If you are in debt or have to pay someone then better to do that first because the one who is being in debt is not able to perform Hajj. Settling of the dispute is also a good practice before going because cleaner the heart of yours, more you will be able to receive the blessings of the Almighty.

before going, reading some guidebooks will make you know how to perform Umrah and Hajj or more precisely how to perform it in a correct manner. Direction books or online reading about routes is helpful when you are in Makkah or Madinah. If you are not an internet user, then learn some of the basics to use it because it will help you in any situation for sure. Learning some dues and supplication for different times will be virtual than the normal supplication because of the effort you had put in learning them.
Health is wealth;
last but not least is staying healthy. Do not take your health something non-considerable because if you are not healthy you will not be able to perform the rituals properly.
